Mav is a product-led company, and our platform is at the heart of everything we do. We're looking for a Head of Engineering with a growth mindset who wants a broad scope of ownership in a fast-growing, post-product-market fit startup. You'll work closely with the Founder/CEO (who is also an engineer), Head of Product, and a small, but growing, team of Engineers.We're headquartered in the Arts District of Las Vegas, where you'll join us in-office and enjoy our unique culture-house music, energy drinks, coffee and good vibes.Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision and architecture of our Ruby on Rails platform, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Attend product planning meetings with the CEO and Head of Product, contributing to feature scoping, technical decisions, and overall product roadmap.
• Lead hands-on development (front-end and back-end) alongside a small, fast-moving team.
• Oversee DevOps, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), and production environments (Heroku, AWS, etc.).
• Identify and fix bottlenecks, bugs, and other issues to keep the platform running smoothly.
• Hire, mentor, and grow the engineering team, creating a supportive, high-performance culture.
• Collaborate with design, product, and other stakeholders to deliver product features on time.
• Maintain strong coding standards and best practices in testing, QA, and documentation.Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience developing web applications in Ruby on Rails, including hands-on coding for production environments.
• Prior experience as a Senior Engineer, Tech Lead, or Head of Engineering at a startup (or similarly fast-paced environment).
• Familiarity with our stack: MongoDB, Redis, RSpec, Sidekiq, Webpacker, TypeScript.
• Comfortable managing infrastructure (Heroku, AWS) and CI/CD (GitHub Actions).
• Able to balance big-picture leadership with day-to-day coding and troubleshooting.
• Experience hiring and mentoring engineers; passionate about fostering growth and collaboration.
