Job Title:Assistant Vice President, Commercial
UnderwritingLocation:West SaharaWhat you'll do:Level II As a
Commercial Underwriter II, you'll be responsible for underwriting
new business loan requests and renewals for working capital lines
of credit, owner-occupied commercial real estate loans, term loans,
formula-based lines of credit, traditional asset-based lines of
credit and other Bank lending products. You will build internal
relationships by working with lending officers on credit matters.
You will also build external relationships with bank clients. One
of your key responsibilities is to review the loan structure,
financial spreads, entity structures, collateral, market data and
reports to understand inherent risks and prepare a recommendation
to Credit Administration in the form of opportunity memos, loan
presentations, administrative action memos, and annual reviews. You
should be able to complete the following tasks relative to
moderately difficult credits, including borrowers with
inter-related companies:--- Analyze and interpret business
financial statements and tax returns to determine financial trends,
identify risks and weaknesses, and mitigating factors.--- Compute
traditional and UCA cash flow.--- Analyze personal financial
statements and tax returns.--- Analyze credit reports.--- Analyze
loan requests and determine the proper loan structure.--- Analyze
collateral such as accounts receivable, inventory, equipment, real
property.--- Analyze industries for relevant trends and determine
the likely impact on business applicants.--- Correctly apply loan
policy and identify exceptions.--- Synthesize analysis to properly
risk rate credits.--- Communicate analysis in well written and
thorough loan presentations.What we are looking for:
- Spreads financial statements and tax returns into appropriate
analysis software.
- Reviews and researches proposed collateral, including review of
real property appraisals, UCC-1 filings, etc.
- Summarizes credit analysis in loan presentations and other
credit documents.
- Prepares other reports as required by Credit
Administration.
- Provides loan account risk ratings based on Bank policy and
grading procedures.
- Develops and maintains knowledge of financial industry,
economy, market conditions, rates, vendors, and competition.
- Understands business implications of decisions, displays
orientation to profitability, demonstrates knowledge of market and
competition and aligns work with strategic goals.
- Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as
well as all applicable, state and federal banking regulations.
Keeps up with changes to banking regulation and completes bank
training courses on-line.
- Independently underwrites new credits and/or changes to
existing credits and manages appropriate loan covenants to provide
early triggers to detect deterioration of the credit.
- Plays key role in working with loan coordinators to obtain
information needed to underwrite the credit requests.
- Joins relationship managers on client calls and visits to
discuss new credit requests.
- Communicates with clients independently of the Relationship
Manager for credit related questions.
- Is involved in the post approval credit process from closing to
ongoing portfolio management.
- Takes lead and reviews work/spreads completed by credit
analysts and provides feedback and guidance.
- Consistently applies good decision-making techniques pertaining
to inquiries, approvals, and requests as they apply to existing
policies and procedures.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of all records and data
received and produced.
- Follows policies and procedures, completes administrative tasks
correctly and on time, supports the Bank's goals and values,
benefits the bank through outside activities.
- May perform onsite property and business inspections
- May make presentations to Credit Administration and Loan
CommitteeWhat you need to have:
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from a four (4) year college or
university that includes accounting, economics, and finance
emphasis, and 5 or more years of related experience in commercial &
industrial lending
- Knowledge and training in financial statement and tax return
analysis, typically resulting from a combination of education and
work experience in accounting, financial and/or credit analysis or
related areas
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Proficient in office equipment such as computers, copiers,
etc.
- Proficient with basic office software applications such as Word
and Excel
- Proficient with business financial spreading software (e.g.
Risk Analyst, Credit LensTM), preferred
- Proficient with personal tax return spreading software (e.g.
Paul Buker's Tax AnalysisTM), preferred
- Knowledge and training in all lending activities and
terminology
- Knowledge of commercial, construction, real estate, and
consumer loan processing
- Knowledge of loan documentation such as notes, security
agreements, loan agreements, guaranties, etc.
- Knowledge of related state and federal lending and compliance
regulations, and other Bank lending policies
- Current state driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate
insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing
assigned duties and responsibilitiesCompensation: Salary range for
new hires is generally $94,620.00 - $116,883.00 for Las Vegas, NV.
Salary amount is determined by specific job location. In addition,
the role may be eligible for annual bonus/incentives earned and
